jazzing up interior
yea thats not a bad idea. cause i just wanted a peice to fit over my stock center dash console but of course you have to buy the whole damn kit which i dont want. I might have to think about painting it
I want to paint mine after seeing that. The only problem, is my interior is black. But instead, what I was thinking was doing my door pillars, and A pillar in silver, and my light how you did it.
Do you have to take off the door panel to get to the pieces on your door lock that you painted? Forget those then, I don't want to take off the door panel. Also, post up how you took off the piece around the overhead console, and around the light. I would like to clean all that stuff off, and paint it up some time. But I'd paint mine in a Metallic Pearl Coat Grey. That way it looks nicer.

yeah you have to take teh door panel off to get to the switch bezels.
its super easy. heres how to remove everything on an 06 1500
door removal:
4 phillips head screws that you can clearly see
1 torx that holds door handle on ( cant see it unless you look closely
inside handle)
then pull up and out, be careful of wiring for switchs.
disconnect 2 wires and its off.
rear door removal:
1 phillips screw
1 torx in handle again
pull up and out and disconnect switches
center console for flip down cup holder style:
flip cup holder down
2 screws up underneath ( above cup holder and right below cig lighter
and power supply but beind console)
then pull out all around carefully as to not break clips.
overhead console:
pop out each lens
2 torx head screws under each light
then pull down and towards rear truck carefully (clips again)
remove 2 wires ( computer comes out with 4 phillips screws)
dome light:
just open lens and pop out.
lock pin bezels:
with door panels removed they pop out
taking out side door panels above switches:
once door is removed pull away insulation
youll see a bunch of brown spots, these are the plastic welds
cut them off carefully. i used a chisel and cut them off completly
then carefully push a screwdriver through into posts and it pops off
to put back on i put posts back through hole and epoxyed them in place
in back. very easy.
rear door switch pops out too

Ok, I misunderstood you on the doors, I thought you meant the door panel itself was welded on, not those pieces on it. Alright, I might be able to take off the door.
Now, what all supplies do you need?
Cleaning, sand paper, primer, paint, clearcoat. Is that it, or anything else for a DIY job?

along with common tools and torx bit set thats all youll need.
go to a auto body store and tell them what your doing and they can help you find anything you need. the paint used on my parts was lincoln white and wasnt rattle can. it was sprayed with a spray gun/compressor and baked (not in a regular oven).
it looks like you have the mineral grey color truck i would color match that. go to the dealer or see if auto body store has that color and do that. if you pay attention to detal and prep right even rattle can paint jobs can come out really really good. just let dry in between each coats throroughly.

Yea, I'm wanting to do the gray on my interior. The Mineral Pearlcoat Grey would look pretty cool on my interior, I hope. If I didn't have all the chrome, or the money to change it, I would buy some rims, and do like what Off Road Teacher did, except matching my truck. Well, I'll more than likely have to bring someone with me to purchase the supplies, since I'm not 18. But I think this is one that I'm wanting to do, that I think will actually happen, within the next few months.
its fine at night dont even notice it at all... even in the winter with snow its not bright. i had a buddy that had is whole dash white and it was blinding in winter and in the sun. but this is pretty suttle. i love it feels like a new truck to me.
thats the best thing about doing stuff to your truck, once your done and getting that feeling like its the first day you got it all over gain.
