Default scratches... one that is kinda big

I wanted to get your opinions on the best stuff to use for scratches. I have some on my bed rails that I'm not as concerned about but would like to get rid of, but I have one that is particularly large on the passenger door. It is quite sad... I hit a rock, and it jumped up and put about a 3-4 inch gash in the door. It is a bit deeper, maybe needs to be filled, then then I'd like something to cover the scratch. What do you guys recommend?

If it's a heavy scratch, your probably better off not trying to rub it out. Youu can have someone airbrush it, rather than trying to use touch-up paint. Hard to really recommend what to do though without actually seeing the scratches.

You're into the primer. You can touch it up with touch-up paint but it's going to look like crap.

You might want to look for someone who can match the color and air brush it, then hit it with some clear coat. Man that must have been a huge rock.

ya, I kicked it off to the side of the road... every day when I drive by it I want to get out of my truck and just smash the crap out of it. Thanks for the help. What about smaller scratches? Does the kind of stuff that you just rub on work?

For real light scratches, I use Scratch-X by Meguires. It works great if the scratch is just in the clearcoat. For chips, I use touch-up paint and clearcoat touch-up.

Good luck.
