ten foot hunk of heavy chain for us poor boys

 

we have one of those big ones for on the farm, 160,000 lb one. 2 1/2" diameter braided nylon rope,

 

ummmm...... chain is just waiting for a disaster to happen


I have a 35k lb tow strap and a 10k lb

 

generally you dont know what the chain is rated at and if it grenades, ive seen it happen more than once, big damage will ensue. might as well fire a 12 guage at the back of one vehicle and then again at the front of another. or spend the $40 or so bucks and not have to worry about it. stretching is the key here and a chain doesnt stretch. i carry a heavy logging chain but only use it when moving logs. scary memories just thinking about using a chain that way.
