and yet another accident.....

is that 4k just in damages or is that total with the labor and all. If that includes labor that aint to bad. I friend of mine just went through the same thing as you. They told him $4500 in damages. It ended up being 30hrs labour @ $95/hr. Parts for the thing was only $1500. Body shop would be a good business to run in this weather.

I just got off the phone with the other guy and he has $1,700 damage to his truck. we argued for a bit and now he just wants to call it even.. at first he was expecting money outta me for it. but theres no way in hell I would since he was driving like a ****in idoit and showing off. I'm still trying to get money outta him, but it doesnt look like i'll be able to....... and since the cops said it was really a no fault accident.. and I cant afford to put a claim through my insurance, and I cant afford to fix it cause I just got permanantly laid off.... I dunno what I'm gonna do..... I guess I just learned I HUGE lesson the hard way....... my life sucks right now......
and theres no way I can do aftermarket parts, unless they are cheaper. I have a set of stock headlights I got off a member here in the summer, I was gonna paint them black, but looks like I'll just have to put them on. I'm hoping some junkyards around here will have some parts...... this truck went from looking really good to looking like ****.....

You should have got insurance information and called his insurance right away! They would have got a statement from you and then called him for his.
That front fender just needs minor TLC. Headlight can be had on ebay for $50-$100. Bumper skin will need to be replaced and whatever brackets behind it are. It's def. not 30hrs worth of labor regardless. More like 20 with replacement and paint labor included. I bring my stuff to the same guy now for 10yrs and he is excellent. For that, he would charge me $800 for paint and labor as long as I had all the parts for him to replace.
Anything under $3k I would suck up and just pay for it out of pocket because you'll end up paying that much for added insurance if his won't pay and your does. So after your deductible and 3yrs of surcharges, you'll be about $3k. Hey, 'Tis the season right?...lol Losing your job sucks so I'm sure out of pocket expense isn't an option. I'm sure the deductible will be a tough bullet to bite. I hope you have collision????? Heck, I have collision on my 95 stratus that I paid $500 for at the local auction. I got a bargain on that car...hehehehe Insurance is stupid cheap for me anyways. I pay $62/mo for my truck with $50 comprehensive and $250 collision and only $260/yr for same coverages for the car.

He knew he was screwing around and mostly at fault for the accident, that's why he was so eager to "take care of it" and not call the cops. Now that it's later he's thinking that he doesn't owe you anything because you can't prove he was in the wrong. Unfortunately **** happens... Sorry dude
