Default 2005 vs. 2008 Taillights

Is it a simple swap to put on the newer looking taillights from a 2008 onto a 2005? They look like they are about the same size. Thanks for the help!

My understanding is they will physically fit but the wiring is different and would need to be adapted.

How would they fit? They are bigger and are shaped differently. I would appear that you need to change your front fenders, your bumper has a different cut-out but i think your grill can remain. I personally like the 05's better than the 06-08's. Most guys try to get "eye brows" over the 06-08's which make them appear like the older 05's.

Why would you have to change fenders and bumpers for a tail light swap?

Yeah, he said tails, not head lights.

Besides, the tails should be found on ebay cheap since nearly everybody prefers the older design vs. the "Captain Galaxy" rocket-style they stuck on the 07+ models for no apparent reason.

These the ones you're talking about? They're so ugly.

That's one of the reasons i like my 06 is because i have the new front end but the old tail lights.

Wow, I've got wayyyyyyy too much in my head today. WTF was I thinking?

I thought he said headlights.

Tailights will fit but you will have to splice a few wires as they are a little different. If I remember correctly, the 06 will work with no splicing but the 07+ will need splicing. Don't hole me to that, but I could swear I read that somewhere when I was in search of new tailights???

Anyways, most guys with the 06+ tails want to swap out for the 05prior as well. I don't care for my headlights or the tails as much as the older ones.

Actually, you have to "Frankenstien" the wires from 06 to 07 as well. 07 and 08 are compatable but thats it.
Im contemplating these:

Thanks guys, I am getting an '05 that has a broken rear light so I wasn't sure what I wanted to go with. The older style does look a lot cleaner, and it sounds like it will be a lot easier to pop in. thanks again!
