Did you see if you are getting spark?
Take off a spark plug wire on any cylinder you choose. get a working spark plug or take one out of your engine and plug it into the plug wire. With some one cranking, see if you are getting the proper spark. Should be a bluish white spark. Not purple. You may have to touch the electrode to a grounding surface while the engine is being cranked.

Or you could just grab ahold of one of the wires while someone cranks. If you jump, you've got spark....lmao

You are showing your age 'dog. I bet under 5% of the guys on this forum ever got bit by a cracked distributor.
Come to think of it, I think I'll do a poll to see who even knows what a timing light is. How many you think ever did points? Damn, I'm getting old...

you should also check your fuel pump. first just turn thr key all the way forward without starting it and listen for the pump..easiest way to do that is let someone else turn the key and you lay under the tank..or check the pressure port and make sure you have fuel pressure.. ***check all of your ignition fuses to include ecm/pcm #23 as well as starter fuses and fuel pump fuses. Have you done anything to your truck recently or has she done anything to you?

check for codes..turn your ignition all the way forward without turning the engine ove and all the way back three time and if there are any trouble codes they will show up.

does that method work with your 04? I know it won't on my truck, I just figured they discontinued that on the 04 and after. Maybe its just the ones with the hemi they took off.

Probably nobody has ever seen points...lol Those things are a PIA anyways. I upgraded everypoint system that had come through my shop, set the timing and be done with it. No constant adjusting likt the points.
Anyways, I always just grabbed ahold and got zapped. It's the quickest way around things and saves time...lol
I have been bit by 120 in the house on a few occasions, the measly low voltage factory ignition doesn't scare me...lol
As long as you know what to expect your fine. Even then, you'll still jump, it's natural instinct. If you have never done it before, make sure your elbow is clear from and edges or jagged points, because you'll yank your arm back and bang your elbow and wish you took the long way around things. It really isn't that bad.

He said the truck keeps flooding itself, so I don't think that's the problem

When was the last time the cap and rotor where replaced? They could be worn out. Also check to see if any moisture has gotten under there. Make sure you check all you're electrical connections on the coil. Check that you're getting spark from the coil. Don't by any chance have a check engine light? I was reading in the overhaul manual that the camshaft, crankshaft, throttle position sensors are all part of the ignition sys. Could be one of those going **** up. Good luck

either no fuel, no ignition, or a sensor throwing off the computer, like a crank or cam sensor just took a dump
