Default 2002 Dodge Ram speedometer stuck after throttle body cleaned

On my 02 Ram with 5.9L Magnum the speedometer is now getting stuck and jumping around now after I cleaned the throttle body. Where should I start?

The small stepper motor in the cluster probably is about to fail. It can be ordered and replaced if you have the patience and skill by removing the cluster from the dash. Or you can replace the cluster as a unit. www.usspeedo.com may be able to help you solve the problem. It is a lot easier to replace it a a whole. It wouldn't hurt a thing to pull out the cluster and at least check the wiering.

Good info Froto.

Don't ya hate when you touch something and then another thing goes bad? Makes you wish you had just left the other thing alone. Dammit.........lol

So this is a total coincidence?

I'm not in the mood to pull apart the dash so to the dealer.

Getting the cluster out insn't that hard. It takes like 15 minutes.
Yes, coincidence. Thr throttle cable on the t/b has nothing attached to the cluster.

I hooked up my Actron Scanner before and drove with it connected the Actron told the correct speed while the speedometer was incorrect so that definitely proved it. I think I'll give it a shot changing it but where can I get the motor I need.

I saw that but do they sell just the motor? I'll send a e-mail.

I think it's just a plastic gear. I had to replace one in my Cobra. That was their common problem. You may even beable to pick up a whole cluster off ebay for cheap and just take out the little gear and re sell the rest of the cluster?
