Default AMSOIL

hello all!
Here is the question; I got a ram 1500 2004 and i put 33k miles into it on dealer oil.
I read about AMSOIL.. to convert to it must flush with AMSOIL flush for 20 min. then drain and put new AMSOIL filter and 20-50 AMSOIL. Good for 25K miles between oil changes.
Any info on that?
Thx[8D]

I don't know where you read that but it wasn't Amsoil that said that and it is a bunch of crap.
You can just switch over normally and the 2004 Rams use 5W-30 oil, never 20W-50.
Up to 25,000 between changes with fluid analysis on the normal Amsoil synthetics, The series 2000 oils are stated to go up to 7500 miles, I think. Otherwise double the intervals to be on the safe side.

20W-50 is way to heavy an oil. I'm not sure if even that weight synthetic would pour as well as the 5W-30 at lower temps. The 5w-30 synthetic is all that you need for the truck.

This is from their site, 2000 0W-30, correctly noted, and flush with AMSOIL FLUSH for gas motors over 20K miles. Question is, "Is it worth doing?
SERVICE LIFE

In personal cars and light-duty trucks with non-turbocharged gasoline engines: change the oil at 35,000-mile or one-year intervals, whichever comes first.

In turbocharged gasoline engines and occasionally used gasoline engines: change the oil at intervals up to three times longer recommended by the engine manufacturer or six months, whichever comes first.

In high performance and racing engines: specified by Owner Experience/Oil Analysis.

Marine four-cycle gasoline engines and infrequently used automotive four-cycle gasoline engines: drain oil at intervals up to three times longer than those recommended by the engine manufacturer, or one year, whichever comes first.

In fleet and industrial engines: drain oil at intervals up to two times longer than recommended by the manufacturer, or six months, whichever comes first.

AMSOIL Oil Filters should be changed at 12,500-mile or six-month intervals (whichever comes first) in gasoline engines. If a Hastings or other filter is used, filter should be changed at manufacturer's recommendation.

Are you concerned about maintaining your chrystler warranty? If so, you will probably void your warranty by extending oil change intervals, reguardless of the type of oil you are using.

For severe duty Dc recommends changes at 3K. For light duty it's 6K. So as long as you don't exceed that you should be OK, especially if you're going to the trouble of analysis.
