The EGR valve helps your car more efficiently and completely burn fuel by recirculating a portion of your exhaust and running it through the combustion process again. This results in a cooler, more complete burn of the fuel which decreases you car's noxious emissions by prohibiting the formation of some harmful gases.

JoeHemi, thanks for your pictures, i am going to try it myself this weekend. I had the trottler to my 03 Hemi 4x4 cleaned by a friend's friend who works for the city and works on dodge vehicles, around January or February of this year. It was running good and I even made a trip to Wisconsin and back to Texas with no problems. He charged me $45. Just this last week it starting giving codes, P0300, P0440, P0456, P2175 and P2106. This time I am going to do it myself. I had taken care of all my vehicles before until I got my Hemi, now I am not afraid to do it myself when I have good instructions. I will be looking for instructions on taking care of code P0300 Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected. Hope you can give me some pointers. Take care.

Great write up! I did this my self this past weekend also did the plugs! Had gotten the same CEL for the EGR. I have about 200 miles on it now and everything good! Haven't Noticed any mpg gains but it does feel a bit more responsive.

Got my stuff from rockauto as well! they are great to deal with!

EGR took all of 20 mins to change out and the plugs.... It took 45 mins to get the Drivers side back 4 out! Rest were cake, so I'm glad that I did them first and got the cursing out of the way!

it helps with emissions by recirculating exhaust gas back into the intake to help reburn any unburnt fuel.. i believe it opens at steady throttle --like when driving on the highway.. it closes when you punch the throttle and go up to WOT...

damn lol didnt see page 2
