Don't quote me, my memory is faulty.

I want to say a normal 4.7 in the VIN is EVA and the High Output is EVC. A 5.9 would be a "Z"

Maybe Parts/Service will chime in.

The guys that write up the service order don't know jack (present company accepted )...they only know what you tell them. The tech probably didn't even bother correcting him.

LOL... If it has WIRES and an aluminum intake manifold then its a 5.9L! ANYONE who tells you its a 4.7L should be disregarded and ignored... Im not trying to be mean... but the fact is the 4.7L NEVER came with an aluminum intake and it has ALWAYS had coil on plug.

There are NO factory aluminum intake manifolds available for the 4.7L engine. NONE... they where NEVER made... This is the first HUGE clue that its a 5.9L. The plug wires are another HUGE clue that its a 5.9L.

Your 4.7L engine is different from his because he has a 5.9L and you have a 4.7L! The service records do NOT indicate what he has... its clearly a TYPO... LOOK AT THE ENGINE! I can type on a piece of paper and call your 4.7L a 426HEMI... but that will not turn your 4.7L into a 426HEMI at the end of the day it will still be a 287MAGNUM.

Here is a 5.9L in a DAKOTA.... I'm sure it looks VERY similar to your freinds engine.

SPEED SAFE, AIR RAM

Can you make my 5.7L Hemi a 426 Airram? That would be sweet!!!!

J/K I did an engine swap on a 97. It had a 5.2L and it was done, so I installed a 5.9L. It was a direct bolt in job. I did use the 5.9L ECM though.
So from experience, your buddy has a 5.9L engine, not 4.7L.
