If you have any leaks, the synthetic will make it worse, but otherwise it should be okay.

You'd be taking a chance swapping over. Any gunk built up by the regular oil now, would be removed by the synthetic and eventually leak. Then again, it could be clean, you never know.

Hi-Mi Castol always worked well for me in the cars over 100k. If you switch to Synthetic I recommend Mobil 1 every 5k-7k.

Ehhh, i would just stick with Dino Oil. Keep up on the changes and you'd be fine.

But to answer your question, switching is as simple as draining out the old and pouring in the new. Regardless of how many miles a vehicle has. You may have a leak issue as stated above, but I switch a car over with 155kmi and no leaks. I did it so I could just go longer between changes!...lol

I switched mine over to Castrol Syntec after 100k with no problems. Changed every 3k and after a couple of changes went to Royal Purple with great results. So if you have no leaks I would give it a shot.

Just to throw my $.02 in, you might check your local Carquest shop if you have one in your area. I'm sold on Carquest Full Syn oil. It's only pennies more than their conventional, and its manufactured by Ashland Oil Co (Valvoline). Might save you a few dollars, compared to RP, Mobil, or AMSOIL. And if you still change it every 5K miles (easy to remember for me, which is why I do it that way), I would seriously doubt that there could be any advantage to using the premium synthetics.

If the best and cleanest oil is what your after. I recommend pouring in Royal Purple. Many have said it comes out so clean compared to many other oil including Mobil 1. I dunno if you can justify the $8qt???? Get a Purolator Pure One oil filter. It's the best filter for the money hands down and is formulated for Synthetic oils. It's better than K&N and Mobil 1.
