Default Power Steering leak

I have a 2005 1500 v8 and have a power steering leak. When I got the truck home and crawled under it I found that fluid was leaking out of the right (passenger) side of the steering column from the rubber gasket that is around the joint.

What could be causing this? By the way one thing I probably should mention is that this happened about the same time last year. All the power steering fluid leaked out of the truck for 3 or 4 days and then it stopped. There is a possibility that it could be happening due to the cold weather. It was -44 today.

Thanks for any help.

Default Yea, read that one.

I spent some time searching to see what kinds of problems there have been with the power steering and noticed the Threads concerning the power steering pump. I am not having any problems with the pump or the connections to the pump.

The leak is coming from the passenger side of the CVU Steering Rack. That is what I need help with. What could be leaking with that? Could it be that I have blown a seal? My thinking is that if a seal is blown is then I am probably will have to replace the CVU Steering Rack.

Tomorrow I am going to call around to see if I can find one locally. My guess is that I will have to order one.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Default Warmer with less leaks

Well, it finally warmed up to -20F and my truck stopped leaking power steering fluid. This is the same thing that happened last year when it got colder than -35F. I still need to replace the R&P steering this summer so I don't have this problem again next winter.
