Default Smittybuilt vs Nasta bars

Ok, the Durango is sold, so now I can finally get some nerf bars for the Ram! Does anyone have any thoughts on Smittybuilt vs. Nasta stainless bars? I know the Nasta's have all stainless mounting hardware as well as the bars, and are more expensive.

Smittybuilt - $160 right now @ 4wheelparts (20% off sale)
Nasta - $285 @ Vanado (not far from me)

Anyone have major issues with the Smittybuilts? Also, since I have chrome rims, what are the opinions of SS bars vs chrome?

Thanks!

joe

I've had the Nasta bars on my truck for about a year now and I can't really say anything bad about them. They are an easy install, everything worked the way they said and they still look great midway through their 2nd salty western NY winter.
About the only things worth mentioning is that they mount close to the rockers, so you will kick the paint when getting in with boots on. Also, the brackets come unpainted, so they show a little more than I'd like. If I had it to do over, I'd paint them before installation.
Overall I think they're worth the extra money.

Default Nerf Bars

I just ordered the Westin Signature Series (Part # 25-2310) for my 07 Ram. I hope I made the right choice. From what I hear Westin isn't a bad brand. Check it out. You might like them. Check out AutoAnything.com. They have pretty good prices. Paid 288 with free shipping.

So I have several yes's for the Nastas. Does anyone even own the Smittybuilt bars? I'm having a hard time looking past the $160 price point, but I certainly don't like purchasing things with no reputation. I am leaning towards the Nasta's due to the all stainless bar and mounting since I live in the land of the salt truck.

I don't, never have. I'll only buy Westins myself. The Nastas have a pretty reliable rep though.
I don't even know anyone with Smittybuilt nerfs, but I do know people with their gille & brush guards who bought them pretty much because of the price. I also know quite a few Jeep Wrangler owners who swear by Smittybuilt! Everyone I know of is happy with them and they seem to be of as much quality as ones costing much more. So, it may very well be worth it for you to try a set of their nerf bars...

Smittybuilts here. 8 months, 15000 miles, no problems.
