Default What is counterbalance???

Hey, so I drive on a stock size Cooper Zeon LTX, 275-60-20....

For the past week, I had been really experiancing high vibrations on the road. So I took the truck to DiscountTire, and they said my truck was counter balanced???? What does this mean????

So they checked the tires and wheels, and well fixed the problem. I don't fell the vibration, but I am still confused what is counter balance?????

Anyone can help me out with this!...

Never heard that term, but I imagine the tires were not balanced correctly, or some of the weights may have fallen off the wheels.

the guy that first balanced it put a weight on one side that was too big and had to counterbalance it on the other

counterbalancing is putting multiple weights on one side of the wheel, but spaced apart. i.e: if you have two weights on the face of the wheel, each 90* from each other, while rotating the weights work against each other. i should know how to explain this better since i work for Discount tire co.

I had Sears tech claim my truck had counterbalanced wheels as well, and my truck does shudder. I have to take it back to the tire shop soon. The mechanics at work, who I trust (since they're not vying for my business) said they haven't heard of the term 'counterbalance', but putting large and small weights somewhat close together isn't uncommon. But it still shouldn't shake.

A good tire doesn't require alot of weights.
