My 07 Ram 1500ST with the v-6 is due for new spark plugs according to the maintenance schedule. Being experienced in mechanical work, but NOT having changed the plugs on anything so modern I wanted to avoid expensive or time consuming mistakes.

I just moved to a new place and most of my tools are sitting in a storage locker, 10 miles away, down a mountain, so I am back to being a shade tree guy...Which means I need to grab all the tools I need before I start the job or risk wasting hours finding oddball stuff.

I assume I simply remove the coilpack assembly (lift straight up after removing retaining nut), probably twisting slightly to help free it up, then stick a LONG spark plug socket (how long, is a special tool needed? 5/8 or 13/16, what gap or do they come pregapped, and favorite brand of plugs to use), slap a little antisieze on the plug threads, and a dab of dielectric grease on the boot, while sliding it back together and replacing the retaining nut...

Is there a special tool to remove the coil pack/boot (like on my 04 BMW R1150R motorcycle), and a special spark plug socket (dealer item only, at $75) or like my other three dodge trucks /6, 230 flat six and LA318 pretty darn simple?
