Exclamation Temp guage moving alot

I had a new waterpump, thermostat, and serpentine belt put in because the water pump failed. My temp gauage is going from the normal position to the middle position then back down, then back to the middle etc etc. Its like a never ending process. I checked fluids everything is chero. So they billed for 3 gallons of coolant and am wondering if they put all three in and no fu**ing distilled water. Would too much coolant make the temp guage move like that. I know adding to much coolant will fry the pump by making it work harder but will this make the guage move so much?

Thanks for the replies fellas!

Also the speedo is jumping when stopped, the truck idles rough when the speedo jumps and the lights on the dash take forever to go out when I start the car. Possible bad cluster?

You might have a little air in the system....it wouldn't hurt to bleed her yourself.

The speedo is jumping or the tach? Just for ****s and giggles check the belt routing...you never know.

Sounds like there is either an air pocket or the thermostat is very slow reacting and is letting the temp fluctuate way too much. Does the heater change temps as well?

The heater stays pretty consistent as far as the the heat output and temperture. The speedo is jumping when stationary but then the rpm jumps a very small amount and I get a rough idle, only when the speedo jumps though.

So then its doesnt matter they didnt put a 50/50 mix? It looks like 80 coolant /20 water. I will do what you guys suggested and get back to you!!
