Diablo or superchips???
Apparantly Superchips is ready to release some new options for the 3815. Part throttle shift point adjustment should be released this week followed by trans line pressure adjustment and trans tq reduction in February. From what i have read, the last option will reduce or eliminate (hopefully) tq management in our trucks. These sound like some nice options to consider if buying a tuner.
This is my understanding of it and if someone else has something to add to this feel free bc I am no expert on this either. But as it was explained to me, the computers in our trucks have a program in them that controls the amount of torque sent to the wheels during hard acceleration. This program was added to keep the tires from spinning excessively due to too much power being sent to the tires. Reduced torque management should allow up to send more power to the rear wheels when you hit the gas and thereby giving us more power out of our trucks.
Tq management lowers torque output during shifts by pulling timing...when in gear it does nothing at all. It's meant to save the rest of your drivetrain...mainly the tranny. Most tuners will reduce tq management in the basic tunes it comes with. But if you talk to the guys that write the programs, they have the ability to completely remove tq management but don't want to. They'll have so many people blaming them for tranny failures it won't even be funny.

There is a guy on DT who put his truck on the dyno with the hypertech programmer and then ran it again with the diablo programmer. He claims that he lost 1 hp and 3 tq when he switched over to the diablo tune from the hypertech tune.
