Default superchips 3815

Is the 87 tune in the SC the same as stock? My 06 hemi recommends 89, but says u can use 87. I've read that if knocking occurs on 87, that the computer retards the timing for 87 octane, so i would say that the stock computer tune is for 89 octane.

I'm going to throw a superchips 3815 tune in, and i'll probably use the 87 tune first, but is that going to decrease my performance than stock or will it be about the same?

Thanks all.

No, the 87 tune on the SC is NOT the stock tune. It actually offers a little more performance than stock, even with the lower octane fuel and improves the firmness of the transmission shifts as well...

We don't even have 89 here in Colorado. We have 85,87 and 91. I have used 87 since I installed my superchips.

actually, no you don't!

the reason that you have 85 87 and 91 there instead o fthe usual 87 89 93 is because of the altitude. increasing altitude reduces the octane you need. you using 87 up there is like us using 89 here. you should be fine using 85 with the 87 superchips tune.

but if you are planning on going somewhere with less altitude, make sure you fill up with 87 before coming down.

I lived at 10,300 ft so 85 would have been just fine. I called superchips and talked to one of there customer service guys and asked them if I can use 85 octane and they didn't recommend it and told me that if I hear a pinging noise to use 87. since I moved to Denver which is 5,700 feet I figure it is not worth the trouble of a few cents in gas so I am running the 87 just to be on the safe side.

Default 2nd gear scratch

What's these people doing to be able to get 2nd gear scratch? I've got an 06 RCSB hemi 4x4 with a 3.92 rear end and 20" rims. Even with a 91 SC tune, will i ever see a 2nd gear scratch. I watched a video of a ram doing it, and all i can figure is, he must have 17" rims w/o a anti-spin differential?
