Default Changing ATF. Torque Converter?

02' 1500 5.9 Automatic

We have been towing a lot lately so I would like to give the transmission some lovin'.

From what I am hearing is that when I open up the pan on the bottom of the tranny I am leaving the majority of the ATF behind in the 'torque converter'. (correct term?)

I would like to drain all of it if possible.

Is it difficult to get to the torque converter? Special tools required?

Thanks.

+1 Some shops have a tranny vacuum that will suck the entire transmission dry. Its 80 bucks where i live.
