Room for a second battery (gas)
I'm considering adding a reserve battery where the current air-cleaner housing is. Anybody done this? Know if there is enough room there? What would I do for the air cleaner (it looks like CAIs take up similar room)?
Thanks
Thanks
why do you want a second battery?,I could see it for off roading(xtra lights, eqiptment, ect.)or if it was a desilbut it should've come that way if it is.unless its one of thoose reasons,i think your looking for way to many problems in the future.i'd just get a optima battery and call it done
A second battery (with isolator) allows you to run additional/heavy loads without worrying about draining your main battery out in the middle of nowhere and not being able to start the engine. You can also self-jumpstart if needed.
theres not much room in there...how about a remote location, like a custom box in the bed, or even under it? some racecars and race trucks put batteries in sealed boxes mounted to framerails. heck, even ford diesel vans have 2 batteries mounted on the outside of the pass. side framerail, maybe that could be an alternative...

we have 07 ford e 350 vans at work with diesels in them at work, and the batteries are in awesome metal boxes. maybe you could pick one up and bolt it to your frame. when i change batteries out, i have to unbolt the whole box, take the top off, disconnect cables, and then the battery is bolted inside the box. very secure, its a nice setup. just an idea to kick around.....
