Bear in mind that "fit" and "fit serviceably" would be two terms I, personally would use. Just because they "fit" does not mean they would be a good choice. If you are looking to clear 35's for the look and maybe for some VERY mild off-roading, 35's would fit with just a level kit. Would you have the flex room necessary for carrying a load or some fairly rough play off-road? In my experience off the beaten path - NO WAY! Again, it's subjective and you would need to look at YOUR needs and ask specific questions...

based on this, i will go with a 33 then and a leveling kit. will i still need spacers? also, a 33 would be a 305/70/17 right?

No, you should not need the spacers at all, especially on an '04 torsion bar front. In plain measurements those tires would actually be 33.8"x12" and IMO would not only give a good "full" look in a leveled truck's tirewell, but also provide for a good bit of flex if you play a little rough with it. I think it'd be an excellent choice with just a level kit...

It's a way of life kid, I've said many times "So what if it's IFS? I'd NEVER want to go bigger than 35's anyway."
Now there are days that I look at my truck and think about how a 3" body lift added to my 4" suspension lift and 37 or 38's would be KILLER!!!

You know what would even be a better look? 09 2500 QCSB CTD 4x4 with a 6'' lift and 37x13.5x17 DC FCII's on it. Do a SCT tuner with a DPF delete, 5'' exhaust so your EGT's don't go through the roof, larger intercooler, new CAI, 4.56's with D-Locker in the back + Tru-trac in the front, tool box, bed lined, light bar with 4KC hi-lighters, air horn, brush guard, cab lights, and hella lights behind the grill. That would be what I would like. Only one problem. I don't have 65k laying around anywhere.
