Do NOT use the Superchips Model 3714 or 3715 (newest version) on any vehicle for which it is not designed. Every new model year contains different program instructions (FLASH ROM). Writing a new program to ROM (in the wrong vehicle) could leave a vehicle non-running. Wait until Superchips has a model specifically for your year. Use of programmer does not void warranty, however if you ever take the vehicle in for service, you should restore the "stock" program because very often there are FLASH ROM updates to your vehicle and if the dealer rewrites your "modified" program, the vehicle again could be rendered non-running. The Superchips programmer will do this for you. John

heres my ?? what kind off truck are they testing when Superchips dynos the truck? is it stock or does it have a peformance exhaust and cold air induction? it claims 30 horsepower gain, are those results for certian controled conditions such as outside air temp. i have always heard that "chiping" a normally aspirated engine won't do as much as most program manufactures advertise. hope i make my self clear in what im asking and saying?

This message is for anyone. The Superchips TriTuner is a hand held device that plugs into the diagnostic port under the steering wheel. It plugs in via a cable similar to a computer serial data cable. You simply plug it in and follow the instructions, then you remove the Programmer. Your done. You keep the programmer in your garage or wherever until you want to restore the stock program or change to one of the other programs (there are 3). This handheld programmer can also check diagnostic codes (if for instance you get the CHECK ENGINE lamp)-you can then check what the problem is. You can also CLEAR the codes. As for what they test these on, they are for STOCK ENGINES ONLY. If you have modified the air intake/exhaust etc, this programmer is not for you. Since all 1500/2500/3500 can have different power trains/GVWR, Superchips engineers the program for basically each vehicle (For example a 1500 2WD would not have the same program as a 2500 4WD. The programmer can tell what you have by your VIN#, it then loads the appropriate program. As far as their power gains, absolutely they are done under certain conditions and we have to use our own judgement wheter the cost justifies the gains. In my case, my problem was that I tow a large 5th wheel and I did not like the way the auto-transmission shifted. Since all of the shifting is controlled electronically (via the program) not much I could do. However, now that the tuner came along, I bought one, took a chance is more like it! However, it has improved the feeling of the transmission under heavy tow loads. So, in my case, it was worth the money. As for HP/TORQUE gains, Hard to say. It feels a bit more responsive, but you have to ask yourself if "a little more" is worth $400.
