hemi tick or egr valve noise
I recently installed a K&N cold air intake on my truck, a 1500 4wd with hemi. I have started hearing a fairly loud ticking sound coming from right front that sounds like an exhaust leak t partial throttle suchas climbing a hill but not when the truck is in park. I talked to a dealer and he said it was the fuel regulator clicking, and another one said it was the egr valve clicking and it was normal. Has anyone heard of this and is it really normal. And is there anyway to silence it, its driving me nuts.
I purchased a stethoscope a couple months back to listen to the engine and attampt to pinpoint the noise. It defintely was not coming from a valve. It seemed loudest when listening at the fuel rail, but nothing at the head.
I've got the same thing. I've got no intake mods and it's noticeable. Seems to be in the right front area. I've never had any other reason to take it in for any work yet (got around 14k, do my own oil) so I haven't got a dealers version of what it is. I've heard others say the same things as above, that it's not a valve or lifter so I'm not real worried about it.
I had my Wrangler 4.0 in the shop for 2 days when it was new for the same type sound, and all they came back with was they thought it was the injectors, but knew it wasn't in the valve train.

Every one that I've ever heard (running Hemi) has had the tick. The new Magnum, the 300C, new Ram all had the tick. It's nothing to worry about it seems, but I can understand the concern. I've read that some have gone to 0-30 oil and said it helped. ???????
my 04 hemi did the same but once i changed to synthetic oil the tick stopped. the truck has 12,000 miles i bought it in oct 2003 only mods are the airade jr intake kit and raven dual exhaust.
