i don't know about sandblasting, but i would at least scuff it. i don't know, maybe the self etching primer means you don't need to? hopefully it won't stop peeling on you after a couple years.

good mod though, i really like the painted bumper and grill.

looks nice, though i still like the chrome... when you had both bumpers off, why not throw a couple coats of paint on the backside to prevent any rust forming? just a thought

Good morning Mr Negative.....

I think it will work out fine. Let us know how the paint holds up in the real world. I am curious as I would not mind doing my bumpers either.

Your bumpers are looking good and you will have to let us know how they hold up, i was going to do mine but my buddy that was going to paint them didnt think they would hold up that long (rock chips), so i put that project on hold.

He is right, depending on where he lives.

If in states that use rock salt it will get chipped quickly.

Love the idea as I always liked the sport model Rams vs the chrome models. The advantage the sports have out of the gate in terms of painted bumpers is they are not metal. The metal part of the bumper is behind a painted plastic cover. The plastic cover helps to absorb the impact and results in less chips, and even better, no rust.

I dont see who or why it cant hold up. It all boild down to prep. If he prepped it right, then hes good. Either way it looks good. Riddla had his done maybe a month or so ago. So far so good for him as well.
