My New 4.56
ok people i just tested my truck after the install. well i can feel a difference but i dont know if it is that or not. i feel the truck lighter and responds much better but i dont feel the power! is this just me or its like that? of course the LSD i didnt test it much because i need to go off road to test it but the gears i was expecting the truck to go like if i put the shift *** on 4Lo. am i right or wrong?
To quote a good friend who used the line on me in a different thread a couple of days ago: "I know you didn't just go there!"

But Ahmed, don't expect it to be like you've got a tank like granny gear. We are only talking what, 300-400 rpm higher at like 70 mph? That's not night and day, but it IS enough of a difference to cut a few tenths off at the track, get the truck moving with bigger tires with much less effort used by both the engine and transmission and extend that transmissions life by keeping the engine's RPM in the "sweet spot" longer.
Had you gotten bigger tires first, possibly a lot bigger after a lift kit install, like many of us have, you'd have noticed that the stock gears wouldn't have been able to move you out of your own way! Then you would really have noticed the gains of having the 4.56s...
Ok Hammer,
today i had the truck the whole day and i was driving it slowly for the break period. and i felt it was much better than the day before. well i couldnt resist it and i pushed it for just 3 secs and i felt the difference. like you said that small 300-400 rpm makes a better response and yea they move the wheels easier. i have 33'' now no lift but i felt it today. i still need to really test it after im done with the breaking period.

nice sig picture. glad to see u got 4.56 gears. I probably need to consider some bigger gears also. hate that it cost you so much, wish you could feel the benefits that we get over here. is that a slight dent i see at the last 0 on the door. That is cool that you have sensors and night vision cameras front and back of the truck. were you get them and how you got them installed.
On your profile page, lower right, you'll see where it says something like group memberships. You may have to create an album first to get that far, not sure. but anyway, you open it and it shows the groups you are eligable to join. Choose the gear club.
The pic is cheazy, I ain't had time to get a better one. but you can copy and paste it outta my sig...

May I ask, If I had say 17" alum wheels with 32's (Maybe 33's) rapped around them and 3.92, What would 4.56 do for me? gas mileage wise and power wise? I appologize about my "Gear ignorance".
Keep in mind its a 4x4 w/ a hemi, If that makes a difference. I do realize they would have to go into both front and rear rings.

Break in period!! New ring and pinion need deveral hot/cold cycles and your good to go. I romped on my mustang after 3 hot-completely cold cycles and pounded on that car since. 473 of those ponies to those suckers.
I'd give it a few more cyles than I did to be on the safe side. Especially since it cost that much! You'll be tempted and you must restrain yourself for the time being!..lol
