Anyone with a long bed make sideboards for their ram? I'm going to fab up some of my own sideboards this spring for my 05 2500, has anyone reading this made them?

Easier to just buy them.

Where could you buy them?
Depending on what they're like I may be better off making my own.
I landscape and need to be able to haul a lot more mulch. Without sideboards I can only haul about 3 yards without having to worry about johnny law...

I never seen them for sale. I would think it would be pretty easy to make.

I misunderstood that the first time. I think it would be easy to make some. Slide posts in the stake pockets and screw some boards to them. I would guess like 2 2x8 boards on either side. Show pics if you make them.

Yeah I figured i'd get a bunch of treated 2x8s, and whatever size i can get to fit into the sleeves (maybe a 2x4 trimmed up) and make the sideboards out of that, and make a headache rack out of some plywood and cut out a square in the middle for the window, maybe cover it up with some metal mesh...

A friend of mine made them for his - he took some 2x4's for the vertical poles, and notched them so they fit into the pockets. Then he took some other boards and screwed them to the vertical boards. Looked pretty good, but a little redneck at the same time.

They would be easily removed though.

i also thought about making some for my truck but my buddy just got a mason dump. the nice thing about them is you can slide them in and out, not permanent at all. and instead of making a unstable "headache" bar, why not just buy a safty rack from backrack. it would be much stronger and you wouldnt have to worry about anything flying through the back window.

Well i want to be able to take everything off and put it on easily and quickly. I don't do shotty work- hah, im sure whatever i make will be "stable." I'm also pretty sure one of those back rack saftey racks is bolted on through drilled holes/and not easily removed which i dont want to do... but i do like them!
