Default PCV valve question

Ive got a filter on the hose thats connected to the oil filler tube..and my question is, will this cause a CEL? my understanding as long as theres a filter on there it should be fine right? or wrong... ive got a recurring CEL and i cant quite remember what it was but it was something to do with my emissions, the guy said it was prolly my gas cap not on all the way....but it keeps coming back...any thoughts?

yes it may be the problem, just like large diesels they have a scavegining air for the oil pan and other areas to remove potentially explosive gases from those areas. if by chance the pcm measures the pressure(+/-) and the filter not allowing any vaccum to built then maybe it is your problem? just a thought?
