Default What is the best CAI, in your opinion

Hello,

I just bought a 2006 1500 Big Horn SLT with the 4.7L (NON-HEMI) with 20K, and I'm wanting to put a CAI on my truck. In your opinion what is the best CAI on the market. Your feedback will help me out greatly. I am looking at the Volant Power Core, and will be changing the exhaust at a later date, due to $$$$. The 285ci is a dog with the tow package, I can't even power break tires lose.

Thanks for your help

You can also do a search for "CAI" and you will probably find as many posts about this as you will opinions....

The main thing, IMO is to eliminate the 'hemi-hat' which sits in front of the throttle body...it seems to be the most restrictive part.

yeah check out RSSJIB's custom homebrewed intake. came out real nice and im sureit performs the same if not better than some of thre aftermarket systems that cost $300+.. the ebay systems arent that bad they are just noisy and chrome just doesnt look good under the hood. makes your engine look cheasy (IMO)....

they are all the same within 200-250 cfm which not a big enough difference to argue over. The best CAI was the Ramhammer hands down but im pretty sure its not made any more as it was only a one man operation making it. Other than that, pick one....

Here is my "homebrew" - some PVC and a real K&N filter, but basically a free-flowing set up.....

actually, if you would look in it you would see it's completely smooth and makes a perfect bend....just like aftermarket CAIs.....the tube between the filter and the resonator is what screws it up.........

i have an AEM brute force on both of my trucks, and i love it....never been a fan of k&N, i've heard that aFe is spose to be pretty good....which i may end up switching to that in the near future....also, my intake cant be heard under acceleration at any speeds (had an ebay CAI that was ungodly noisy)
