if the hitch is the same as it is for the 02-05 (which i think it is)...you actually have to unbolt the bed, lift the bed up and then slide the trailer hitch between the bed and the frame....thats how it was for my 02......more of a PIA then you think

If you are going to tow 10K pounds you may want to consider a CTD. 10K is the edge of capacity of the truck you are looking at. (Assuming it is a 1500)

Unless that truck is a 2500, 10,000# is too much. You'll be as much as a ton overloaded. Please don't subject your horses to that risk.

Well the 08 I had already had a bar the travels from the frame to the bumper to reinforce for towing off of the bumper. The part that then needs to be installed is "the second part" of the hitch. http://www.mopardodge.com/images/acc.../hitchrcvr.jpg As you can sort of see in this picture the part of the hitch that sticks down doesn't have the arms that stretch back to bolt on. Like this http://members.***.net/rtoyz/TL_Supe...SuperHitch.JPG

The "second part hitch" is quick and easy to install.
Remember I am talking about an 08.

I have a few questions, one being is there any difference in towing ability if the reciever, wiring, etc is added now? Secondly, I would like to be able to go in and get the price down from what was quoted ($17,900 with 34,000 miles) so is there generally a price difference for a truck with the reciever already installed v. having the tow/haul package but no reciever?

Thanks,
Ava
You only need the receiver, you can get it for under $100 from the dealer. Look under the rear and you'll see a class III hitch and the receiver that you need bolts to the bottom of it.
