Question Air bag indicator?

Looking for some advice.. kinda freakin me out more than an actual problem (I hope)..

I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT HEMI and this problem just started lastnight. No recent maintenance other than an oil change 2 weeks ago. As I was driving, I kept hearing a "ding" like my fuel was running low, which it was. Didn't think anything about.. kept happening ever couple of minutes or so. When I finally looked down after filling up, I had an Airbag light on. Ok, didn't really think about it b/c it went off right after I noticed it. Then 30 seconds later, "ding", then off, then "ding", then off.. ok, at this point, not only am I annoyed at this sound interrupting my awesome taste in music, but also worried that an effing airbag is going to fly out of my steering wheel at 4 billion mph and rip my arm in half and make me crash over the bay bridge.

With that being said (and to avoid having to drive at 9 & 3, sooo not cool), any dodge mechanics or friends of dodge mechanics that have a clue??

I'd guess it's the clockspring assembly in the steering wheel. It's what makes the connection between the wheel and the column able to rotate, and it's been a problem for Dodge in the past. The fact that it's intermittent makes it sound like when you turn the wheel it's losing connection at some point.

I was thinking the same thing at first so I took video b/c i thought this might come up but Youtube says it's having errors with my file. Anyway, to describe it, light was on and off every 30 seconds driving straight, no turning.

Well if it's the module itself, the light would come on at startup and stay on solid. Since it goes on and off, it is some kind of an intermittent problem. The only real way to know is to have the module tested. You might be driving straight but you probably are moving the wheel slightly and that could be enough to lose connection. I'd have it checked at a mechanic to see if they can pull any codes.

Possibly on the OBD-II reader - although it might require the Chrysler Star Scan to read it - it's worth a try if your buddy can do it for free.

I doubt the thing will go off randomly. The more likely situation is that it would NOT go off when it should, like in a collision.

I just got the same problem with mine... though mine goes on and stays on.
I am led to believe that is a stupid light bulb on the passenger on/off switch.
I just noticed the on/off light is out, so I think the bulbs bad.
If I recall - this happened to me in my Ford F150. I put in an LED that I got from Radio ******. Solved the problem. Hope that's all it is. Anybody else seen this?
