I have a 05 dodge ram and was wondering if I do any work on the truck do I need to have it hooked up to a computer so I don't have to have it reprogramed. Since my 91 chev sprint I could do anything on it....'

It depends on what you plan to do. If you are changing engine internals you'll need a programmer. If you are going to do small things like exhaust and cold air intake you should be alright.

 

What about tune-ups and ox-sensor and oil change trans oil change?

 

You shouldn't have any computer issues with any of those changes unless you were removing the O2 sensor. Then you'd need an O2 eliminator.

 

If you are changing any external bolt on item like k&N air filter, entire filter induction assembly, catback(new muffler assembly) fluids, sensors, plugs, wires...etc there is no need for panic. All those can be changed out with no strings attached. It's only when you change your cams or start grinding down your heads and doing internal stuff like that or when removing your catalytic converters where you will be forced to have the ecu reprogrammed for specs.

Anything that is done for maintenance where you are replacing something for the exact same thing but a new out of wrapper product, nothing needs to be done for programming since the initial programming was done for that exact product. This goes even for an entire rebuild.
