I think that I would take out the floor. I know on my house there would be to much stone and brick work to redo the garage door. Other wise you could go to a 17 inch rim and 31 tires if you have the 20's. That might get you in if you let some air out. But sounds like a pain in the a#$.
When I bought my new truck I wanted a 2500. I took it home to check the fit and had the same problem... So I bought the 1500 because it fit through the door with a 1/2 inch.

I didn't think about the difference in clearance when I traded my 1500 for the 2500. The inadvertent height check succeeded, though. The 1500 had plenty of clearance and I didn't even think about the 2500 being higher. Once I added the topper on it, and the cargo rack... I had to modify my cargo rack for a quick release/remove otherwise I would have had... a bit of a mess.

Well just getting a bigger door on a house is a little tougher then just raiseing it. You have to move the beam just above the door first witch are usually the whole length of the door plus some.

Before I bought my '08 I had to modify the back wall of my garage to give me a couple more inches of length. It looks a little different, with a recessed area in the back wall of the garage the width of the one stall, but it worked. I built in a bumper pad into the wall, and just roll up to it, and set the parking break. I got an inch to spare between the back bumper and my garage door. Changing the garage door opening would be more work, but could be doable depending on your circumstance.
