Default no heat/air conditioning/vent air/ANYTHING!

my uncle has a 2003 ram 1500 5.9 and his air just stopped working. i dont mean just air either. no matter what position the air is on nothing blows. no heat. no air conditioning. no regular air even with just the vents open. it happened overnight. any ideas on the problem? he really doesn't want to take it to the stealership.

I would guess the fan motor ain't workin. I would check the fuse and if the fuse is good probably look at replacing the fan motor.

Does the fan motor have a fusable link in-addition-to/instead-of a fuse?

Have you put a voltmeter on the fan motor connector to see if power is getting to the motor?

Loose connector on the motor? Loose connector on the dash control? Bad ground?

Any other high-current or other devices not working?

The fan motor is right above a passengers toes. The plug aims down towards toes and gets kicked on occaision. Check the connection down there, mine has been kicked off so may times I've learned to reach it from the drivers side.

Can you hear the fan at all?

A common problem is the blend door breaking and blocking the flow of air. Turn the fan on high and listen, you hear the fan, blend door is broken and needs to be replaced. No fan, then you might have an electrical issue or bad motor.

we cant hear the fan come on at all. i thought it was a blend door problem but the fan motor never comes on at all. it seems electrical. i will check the plug on the passenger side and the power supplies going to the motor and se where it goes from there.
