Default Got a new exhaust.

Well sort of. I bought an Aero muffler from my exhaust guy, and he cut out my old muffler and resonator and re-used the stock pipe, with the addition of some fabbed 3 inch to make up for the missing space and a chrome tip.

First impressions was i loved it. Made for some more pull, sounded awesome and looked cool too. Now though I thought how a long trip would be, especially with the wife and newborn. It drones quite loudly at certain rpms and is pretty loud. So my thoughts are I have to take it down a peg (also wife said she coudl hear my start the truck and drive off from inside the house).

My exhaust guy said he'd throw the resonator back on for nothing, or he could set me up with a quieter muffler.

Is putting the resonator back on going to make much of a difference, or perhaps i should look at a different muffler. I don't want to get him to put on the resonator and then still not be happy with it.

Thoughts?

i hear with the 3030's that a resonator helps get rid of a lot of drone with the aero's but they say under wot it still sounds pretty good i would get the resonator on if its free cant argue with that

I just put my AT3030 on last week and I love it. I've gone on a couple long distance trips already, and yeah, for a wife and a baby the drone would probably be a little excessive. I don't mind it at all, but I usually listen to loud music, so my opinion is probably a little biased. Definately try getting the resonator on before you go for a different muffler, it's not like it could make it any worse since it's free.

Since the guy said he would put the resonator back on for free there nothing to really lose if you go that route and see how it sounds.

If it wasn't the family trip vehicle I'd be completely ok with it. I too listen to loud music and like the rumbling, it sounds badass. But alas I'm a new family man and must look past my own needs

I'll give it a try today and post my findings. Thanks for the feedback.

I had exactly the same issue with mine. Sounded good at first but the resonance was more than the wife liked. I had an aero turbine resonator added in front of the muffler and now you can barely hear it inside the cab, yet it still sounds great outside.

I'm just putting the stock one back on. By front of muffler you mean between the cat and the muffler? or after the muffler? My stock was originally after the muffler, will this help at all?

The guy at the shop said it'll tone it down by about 30%, which sounds like what i'm after.

The resonator will help quite a bit especially if you have the MDS Hemi.

It doesn't have MDS i recently found out as its a Megacab.

Anyway got back from the shop. Sounds great. The drone is pretty much gone, and it still sounds badass. Awesome improvement. It does growl going up hills, but actually if it go wide open it isnt as deep/droney.

Overall I love it. sounds great, still have the same performance and sounds GREAT!

Very happy. Wife should be too.
