Used the 4X4 last night
Since I've owned the truck I haven't had a reason to use the 4x4, but last night I did.
My son was out riding his dirtbike and called me... "dad, you gotta come get me, I'm hurt."
Ok, so I drive over there and in between him and the road is one yard and a drainage ditch. He was in the green belt behind some houses. I pointed the truck toward the guys yard and my wife said "you aren't going to go through his yard are you?" I didn't answer right away but continued to jump the curb.
The drainage ditch was STEEP on both sides. I was uncertain about it, but didn't see another way to get to my son. I pointed the truck to go down and again.. "you aren't going to go down that are you?... awwww, HONEY, you aren't going to make it!"
I didn't actually put it in 4 wheel until I had to climb the steep hill on the other side. I wanted to reduce the chances that I would spin out and slide backwards.
I threw the bike in the back... arranged for my daughter to bring the Suburban so we could go to the ER while she drove the truck home with the bike.
I guess as my son was jumping the hill he caught a divet on the lip of the hill which threw his front end side ways. The handle bar turned and went into his helmet and lodged in beside his cheek. This threw him to the ground pretty hard. Sure enough he broke his collar bone at the tip with a complete seperation of the AC. Turns out that the bikes back tire landed on his back while still in gear, so his back is pretty chewed up as well.
Bummer, but he did say it was cool seeing me come up over the hill in my truck to rescue him

Yeah, it sucks. I've got some pretty messed up ankles do to an accident in the military (in training).
He's a tough, extreme kid... He'll find a way to get back out there. What really sucks for him right now (according to him) is that he just the day before got his learners permit to drive... and now he can't!
well, that could be a good thing! Some states you can only get your learners permit when your 16 and you have to wait until 17 to get your license. Then I was watching TV and I think it was Tenn. where this girl got her license at 15? That's crazy this day and age. Cars are just too fast and just too many people on the roads.
Average car had like 130hp when I learned how to drive.
