Default Water pump leak?

I have been adding coolant to the truck since I bought it, not much though, maybe a gallon in a year. Anyway I was looking under the truck tonight and noticed the harmonic balancer on the crank shaft had drop of coolant on it. The thing is I really can't tell if the water pump is actually leaking. Am I right in thinking that usually there is a weap hole just past the bearing to let you know when it is going? I really can't see a "coolant trail" from the pump, or would the pully catch the drip?

Thanks for any input.

Get an inspection mirror and see if you have a trail under the water pump. If you don't see any concrete evidence have your coolant system pressure tested.
