I paid 500 for it over the rails. I think it was 75 less or so without the rails.
As for the snow...screw this crap. I almost wrecked my semi, got stuck in my companies yard last night and it took me over 3 hours to get home from the yard...100 miles. Even with 4X4 it was a struggle with all the snow, drifting and rain. Ive had enough!

Since you have family in the area, maybe stay for a couple of days? It will give you a chance for 500 miles of traveling around the area and also to look for any obvious things to have the dealer fix (if possible) since you apparently aren't impressed with your local dealer.

I need to look at the wheel-to-wheel or 3-step nerfs. I have the OEM round tube, and having something to step on under the front of the bed will make it much easier to mount/tie/remove stuff to the cargo racks on my topper.

Rojhan, perhaps you could get creative and fab somethin up. something like the new 09 F-150 has (curse ford, but they have a decent idea with the "man step"). Perhaps a step that folds up out of site in the front part of the bed, but when needed can drop down as a step. I'm kinda in the same boat... i'm 6'3, but because of the lift/tires, the top of the bed is mid-chest for me. Even on my tip toes i cant touch the bed floor.

Rojhan has a great idea there, about working your gears in RodeoRamCowgirl.
Is there a family member who you trust to dive your new truck out there?
It's a perfect way to run in gears, by driving to a local store for 10-15 miles and then to let them cool off when you shop.
Plus the different speeds of the stop/go and some highway driving, is an ideal combination of speeds to wear those babies in.
Plus, some people have issues with gear noise on either the acceleration phase or decelerating phase when new gears have been installed. The gears sometimes need re-adjusting and the 500 mile oil drop and service/inspection, is just the right time to do it.
If your trucks still in the town where they did the gears, that's the time for them to do it. This will save you the expense of a drive back.
Al.
