Default Break problems

I have an 04 ram hemi quad cab with 64000 miles on it. I was driving down the road today and I noticed my brakes were really touchy I would just touch them and they would almost lock up. So I kept driving maybe half a mile and I had to keep giving it more and more gas to go. The brakes ended up locking up all four of them and for me to get off the road I had to put it in 4wd and give it full throttle to just get off the road. what would cause this to happen? and has it happend to anyone else? thanks

All four wheels at the same time? I've never heard of something like this but the logical place for me to check would be the master cylinder or something mechanically broken between the master cylinder and the pedal. When you diagnose the problem be sure to post it here.

I would have to agree with the master cylinder being the problem. Just thinking out loud but; it would have to have something that has control over all four brakes at one time, and be able to be triggered at the same time. Is there a release valve in between the master cylinder and all the brakes? Man, im tired and trying to think.... aagggg

it's brakes haha my bad it was a long day. it's at the dealership now and i'm positive it's not the diff becasue by the time I got off the road I could smell brakes and there was a little smoke coming off all of them .... I got them a little hot getting to the parking lot

So the dealer found the problem. who ever had the truck before me had put the something other than brake fluid in the resivor which contaminated the whole system swelling all the rubbers up and not letting the fluid back off.
