Red face Tune-up

When doing a tuneup what should be replaced besides the plugs and i have a 05 ram 5.7 hemi and It is still under warranty so I can't do any of the maint.. myself and the dealer told me the only thing is the plugs and they would run a scan to check the the sensors and if they are ok thats all...But I thought the fuel filter should be replaced. and I asked them about the ox sensors and they said there are 5 to 7 depending on the engine and they run at $140.00 each and they don't need to be replaced about every few years. So any input would be great....

You can do the maintenance yourself...just keep the receipts. How many miles on your truck?

For a basic tune-up you'll want to do the plugs (16 of them...a lot of places will only change 7-8 to save them money and rip you off) oil, air filter and check the tranny fluid/power steering level. I also check the pH of the coolant with test strips but that's me. The dealer says change the differential oil every 15k but that seems excessive to me....30kish is usually the norm. Your 4 o2 sensors are probably fine, they'll throw a code if there's a major problem...and yes they're expensive. The fuel filter is in the tank and isn't considered an maintenance item...****ty design if you ask me.

well the fuel filter is essentially suppose to last the life of the vehicle...BS, replace it at 100K, but gotta replace the entire fuel pump to replace the filter....otherwise, do all your fluids at 30K, cept for the obvious oil change, air filter every 12-15K, plugs every 60K (30K in the 4.7).....check freeze point of coolant should be in the -34 range......plug wires should be good for a couple years

Default Tune-up

I would sooner do my own tuneup, but I was told before when a car or truck are under warranty you can't touch nothing. So do all fluids and plugs and what about anything to the hemi for service or the TBI.My truck has 39 thousands miles

Speaking of tune-ups, my 30k is coming up, and my K&N cone filter starting to look dirty and the red is starting to fade. How do you know when you have to clean it, and is it easy to do?
