Default Scratched Truck

My friends dumb dog has jumped all over my truck and has managed to scratch a lot of it. As for the paint, I will try to buff it out or take it to a body shop and c what they can do.

The other problem is the plastic that sorrounds the windows, he scratched them too...does anyone have any ideas how the scratches can be removed from the plastic/rubber windows trim/seals ? I'd prefer to not have to replace them, sice the truck is brand new practically.

Thanks,
Pete

There is a product that will do the trick on your damaged/scratched plastic called "Forever Black" Its a bumper and trim cleaner and restorer. I've had good luck with it on black trim and black plactic mirror housings.

a dog is a dog and it is usually what the owner teaches them. so dont take it out on the dog. make the dog owner get it fixed. he should have enough sense not to let it happen to you.

most scratches should just buff out. I would make the owner pay for your truck to get buffed. and theres something that should fix your plastic/rubber.

You can only buff out so much before you go through the clearcoat! Regardless, your stripping down your clear coat to remove the scratches which in the end you lose protection on your paint because of the super thin clearcoat layer or what's left of it?

Any scratch that you can run your fingernail along or grooves that catch your fingernail will be there forever. Only artificial scratches that are otherwise "abrasions" can be buffed out. Very tough to even distinguish damage assessment even by pics. You would have to see that sorta thing in person to properly treat.

I drove my car to the vet's the other day because I was afraid other peoples dogs would jump up my truck since it's pretty crammed in there. I don't mess with dogs. They can do alot of damage in a short amount of time and they don't know any better.

Ahahha...I take it you've never had a dog in the bed before. Mine's pretty scratched too but just the bed...they know better than to jump. I'd be pissed too if they scratched the window trim...if they're deep scratches they more than likely need to be replaced or chaulk it up to battle scars . Chics dig scars didn't ya hear??

Well folks its been raining non stop for the last couple of days - so its been hard to get a pic.

I realize that its the owners/friends fault and I made it clear he is responsible.
So there is no qualms there, hopefully the sun comes out for a few hours and I can decide what needs to be done.

I will keep u all posted...I really hope they can buffed out.

Pete
