Sounds like the first guy was just being lazy.

I want to know what I need to do to deduct my vehicle work from my taxes!

I've spent twice that much in mods on my car alone.

 

Here in Canada if your self employes all vechile expenses are deductable from your income!! why else do you see us Renovations guys with nice hopped up trucks?!! The best of both worlds. I would imagine its the same or similar in the US
