Default Dealer workorder question

Hey guys,
I have an odd question. I have a friend with a 2005 Dodge ram 1500. He took it into the dealer a couple of weeks ago and ended spending $2,200 dollars to have the transmission replaced. When he picked up he either never got a workorder or lost the one they gave him. He went back to the dealership to get a copy of the workorder so he could claim the $2,200 on his taxes. The looked up his info and couldn't find the work order. He can't get them to make another order up for them so now he can't claim it on his taxes.

So my questions, How could the Dealer ship lose a workorder and why would they just not write one up for him. Is it possible the guy he talked was just being lazy? I just can't see a dealership losing a work order.

Its not really a big deal as its just for his taxes, It just took me by surprise that a dealership could lose a workorder.

I would think they would have it in their computer system for their records.

Thats what I would think. They had to enter something in the computer to get the new tranny. Is it possible the workorder is under the wrong Name or Vin number?

What about the invoice/receipt? The last time I went to a dealer for work, I got a laser-printed receipt, even though it was under warranty. I got a copy of the service ticket, too. Sounds fishy to me.

I am going to guess that it is they are too lazy to print him a copy of it.

They should have some record of the RO in the computer or paper documents.
