Default Ebay C.A.I

NO not another question about which one to buy, but rather some info from someone who purchased one...I bought a simple cai off of ebay...the ones that came with a k&n filter, put it on and thought ok cool but mileage got worse and it sounded ok but nothing like i thought it would...after reading about some of the cheaper aluminum intakes flaking and other problems i decided to put the factory setup back on. And then this happened....i gained 2 mpg and a total of about 30 -40 mpt. NOTE my driving behavior did not change one bit...but i was rather shocked about this.....just letting the people who are contemplating the ebay one to just keep saving.

what engine do you have, also what filter do you have in your stock? ive been considering a cheaper intake, but after reading this i may just go with K&N drop in.

It's physics -- to make more power you consume more air and therefore more gas.

Intakes do not improve gas mileage, no matter what their marketing dept may tell you.

the funny thing really is that if you remove the tube between the filter box and the resonator box (box in front of TB) and replace it with a straight pipe, it's actually more of a cold air intake then most out on the market now...look at where the air pickup is for the stock intake....same place that most aftermarket kits are

It's funny b/c a lot of the companies claim they do help mpg. I don't think mine has helped or hurt my mpg. cjs4444 how long did you leave the ebay one on before switching back? You might need to give your pcm more time to learn the new setup, so your getting closer to stock mpg.

Well if you want to try something else the spectre works well and there is a really cheap version made by kool vue and some other companies. They are all mopar and aem knockoffs of the hemi intake.
