Mines a 2wd and I love it. I guess for me it's one less thing I have to worry about. I never go off road and if the weather is bad enough to have to use 4wd that should throw up a red flag to not go out in it. I understand people still have to work but for me out here in South Dakota when the weather gets that bad they shut the town down along with the major interstate that leads to Rapid City. I guess I really have no say in this conversation because out of the 3 trucks i've owned they've never been 4wd. Good luck with you decision. I will agree with WhiteBerry that either way if your getting a truck then toss out the gas comparsion thing.

yeah well my dad works at the college i'm going to so we get a good discount...but still...we probably will take out a loan to pay for the rest, but i'm going to do what i can to help. that being said...i'm looking at anywhere from an '01-05 Ram....i've found several trucks on cars.com and autotrader.com for reasonable prices..so we may check those out...but i was just wondering what the main differences were between 2wd and 4wd...thanks for all help!! i'll post pictures in may of whatever i get!

if you want to save money, id recommend finding a reg cab 4.7 manual 2wd. you would get the best fuel economy and save the most money. nobody likes paying off loans so think about that when you are looking for a truck. dont get yourself into a situation which is more than you can handle
