Smile Painting my exaust Tip W.High Temp paint

Thanks for the advice on my last post Found what I am looking for .. I am in the process of Gettin rid of the chrome on my truck Except for grill and body moldings . I havea good quality mopar exaust tip and I wann a paint it black with some high temp paint . Should the serface be scuffed and primed or how does it work with chrome ? Thanks

The best method for any shiny surface is to dull it (sos pad, fine grit emery cloth etc) then prime and paint. However if you are just doing your exhaust tip, a high temp paint is not required. It surely wont hurt, but if you were looking for a different color that you cannot find in high temp, it should work fine.

you can use some of duplicolors new paint, meant for chrome, called METALCAST, makes parts look anodized if ya wanna go that route, and you dont have to scuff up that nice shiny tip to paint it either

Id scuff it real good and use BBQ grill paint from walmart. Simply my .02

I will have to look up that dupi color paint One other question I have the black plastic part on my bumper So trucks I see are painted to match truck Can I paint that piece or do I need to special order the part
