Thats a really good idea... I didn't think about mounting the offroad jack under the tool box. Hmmm.

Call for help, Blah, By the time they usually could get to me I could have rebuilt an engine. Thus if I can fix it myself I won't waste the time making a call. Besides, Aren't you just a little ashamed calling for help to change a tire? My god where has the world gone these days...

+1 on calling for a tire change. I could see a woman but not no man. Just do it your self and save time. Hahahaha

I thought about getting all fancy and welding together a couple of brackets, but I've got a Bed Rug, so then I thought all I'd need is just some velcro on a couple weighted blocks to grab the "rug" and not let the jack slide. But hell, the weight of the jack is enough on the rug, it doesn't move noticeably, even if I'm a little rough off-road...

Sorry, maybe I should have driven home on the flat that would have been cooler..i would have needed someone there anyways there was no air in the spare but maybe i shouldn't have called anyone and drove to a gas station and filled it up with air myself i didn't think of doing that

A bottle jack is the way to go. As far as your spare tire, keep it overinflated when not in use... you can always let some air out but it sure is hard to put some in when you're stopped on the shoulder.

Sounds similar to an issue I once had on my 1998 Dodge Ram 1500. I drove down the interstate and heard a noise similar to what you describe coming from under the truck. I stopped and found nothing wrong underneath the truck or with the tire. I got back into the truck and heard the noise again, stopped and looked and found nothing.

I didn't know where the noise was coming from, so I just briefly glanced at the tires. At first, I thought it might have been a flat.

The noise got louder, so I decided to pull the truck over and park it until I could find out where the noise was coming from. I called my dad to pick me up and maybe help me diagnose the problem. He looked at my truck a little closer only to find that 3 of the 5 lugnuts on my front right tire were completely sheared off.

The other two were barely on. Had I continued driving, I'm sure the tire would have fallen off, so I'm glad I stopped.

Fixing the lugnuts wasn't all that bad, but it was a bit more complicated than just replacing a flat tire.
