Default bad luck at a bad time

alright so i was driving down the street a solid 8 or 9 miles from home but still in my hometown and i hear a thumping noise every revolution the tires make coming from the front left tire...i immediately pull over thinking something is up with the tire or i possibly caugh something in the axel, i look under the truck and i see nothing so i begin to drive again for about 150-175 yards and the noise keeps going so i again pull it over at the local PD and check again and i see nothing so im like "screw this i have to head straight home now" about 1/2 mile down the road the thumping continues and eventually gives way and i hear a hissing sound which at first i thought i was leaking fluids all over the road so i checked my side view and there was nothing which then led me to believe i've got myself a flat tire..luckily i pulled into an empty church parking lot (irony i guess) and i stopped the truck and threw it in park and as soon as the truck stopped the hissing got louder as all of the air in the tire left the tire. Luckily I called my step-dad and we both switched the tire with the spare under the tailgate but the spare had little air in it so he had to stop at the local citgo to fill the tire up with air while i stayed with the vehicle. So it was pretty dark, cold and windy which made the experience even more fun while changing the tire once he got back from filling it up . Once we got the spare on we checked town fair tire's hours and they closed at 7pm so we called them at 6:50pm and they said they will wait for us to bring the tire in to look at it for tomorrow..i forgot to mention we found nothing wrong with the tire, no nails or anything except when i first got the truck the rim was dented a little bit not too noticable which we believe is the cause of the flat since it may have broken the seal..town fair said they will look at it tomorrow and this may cost us as low as 5 bucks to get fixed if the seal is f'd they also said worst case is that i need to pay for a new tire which i honestly don't think i will have to do since it looks like the rim may have broke the seal

...that's my first flat tire experience and story (the only thing that was a pain in the a** was the cold weather)

I'll also let you guys know how it works out once i pick the tire up tomorrow

Thanks for reading

funny...my uncle was down from boston last saturday and calls us up and says he hit a pot hole pretty hard by accident with his little lexus suv. so while he was in a parking lot a lady told him he had a flat. so he changed it and we bought the wheel and tire to sts tire for inspection, they said that they found nothing wrong with the tire, which leads me to believe that the same thing happened to him.

I cary around a large cannister jack in my toolbox, Works great. Although later I may buy an offroading jack and try to find a place to store it under the bed. I also carry the canned tire plug stuff with me, But that won't work on a broken tire seal.
I am hard on my vehicles, Jump curbs, turn around over medians, cut across grassy areas to side roads, run over stop signs, I have done it all... Thats a big reason why I wanna get 17's, More meat = less damage to the wheels in the common event that I do something stupid.

So along the topic, what do people like for jacks? I've never liked the scissor jacks either. Any particular ones?

I carry a bottle jack under the back seat. The factory jack stinks.

an off road jack would work really well or canister both easy to store and very handy
