Ironically, I ended up trading my truck for a Dodge Neon not too long after that. I dropped the Neon for a Mazda 6s Wagon, and hated it, so when I saw the truck for sale last year, I jumped on it for the price I got it at.

But with the job change, I took about a 10% pay cut. And I'm finding out the truck doesn't just cost more in gas. The last oil change ran me about $50. And with me driving 60 miles day to/from work, the costs add up quick. It finally started to show on our budget, so I had to make a decision.

I'm gonna miss that truck, as it was super clean and appeared to be well maintained. It's for sale at a local dealer in Johnstown, OH if anyone is looking for one. But they're asking way too much for it, or else truck prices have rebounded. I only paid $13.9K for it, and they gave me $13K trade. Now they're asking $16.8K!!!!
you got a good deal. you only lost $900 on the trade-in

yeah, but i dropped $1500 in it (tires, tubes, accessories) and my new ride could use some tires ($500).

i only had it about 8 months.

changed jobs 2-3 months after i bought it, which sucked....but oh well. it was definitely a nice truck. but i intended to buy an econo-box too for my DD anyways. no sense having a nice truck that sits, and a beater for my DD...i'd rather have a decent DD, and an older truck to use on the weekends.

Going by my butt dyno, I would say yes. Just doing a quick internet search, it looks like they have a respectable 15.7-15.9 avg in the 1/4 mile. Compared to my 4x4 that's pretty fast. The only thing I remember about my truck (I never raced it) is that it just kept on pulling, all the way up to 100 (that's about the fastest I've had it.)

Not sure about the Focus, but man it just breezes through the gears. I've only had it for a few days, so I can't attest to how well it accelerates past 70, but it feels pretty quick.

I agree with family priorities and financial support. My daughter owned a 4dr Focus and hit a full size truck with bars in front of it. Long story short, it was deemed totaled. They were not even going that fast. Pushed the front driverside rail back 3 inches. Luckily no one was hurt. I will never own another Focus again.
Best of luck to you and your family.......
