Good luck on that, make sure if you become a tech you make yourself stand out in a good way. Become indisposable to the management so that way if they are laying people off you are not that the one being laid off.

I know a guy who is a Swim Coach who took the mechanics classes and learned body work and he buys wrecked cars and fixes them to sell on the side. He mainly gets luxury cars mid used and all I can say is his kids had nice cars he fixed and he made some good money doing something fun.
