04 so you are saying you leveled out your truck and put shocks in and got 4" lift out of it because i didn't understand the post and i am going to get a set of new shocks for the back because you confirmed the better ride quality i would be looking for and i want to clear the 35's coming later this summer

How much quality do you think you lost in the ride though? If it would be nice enough that new shocks might smooth it out some, I might look into it.

hear me right guys, You will lose some ride quality out of the rear of your truck. But this will be noticed over speed bumps, and extreme circumstances. Everyday driving on the streets, you wont notice. Especially if you spring and get good shocks, ESPECIALLY.
In the front of my truck, I did get a total of 3.25" of lift, after my shocks. Most will say, and I tend to agree, you will not see any lift after installing shocks. But I think that mine were so wore out, that after I installed the new shocks, I saw height improvement.
Oh, ridinhigh... Im not saying that keys and a helper spring is the answer to a cheap 4" lift. Im just saying that I am happy with the way my truck sits, and dont see a need for a 4" lift. Now hemi yellow, is running a 3" body lift, and i believe keys, and clears 35"s BEAUTIFULLY. His truck looks great, and is functional. I could fit 35's pretty easily, but im going to stick to 33's for now. I need room for articulation!

04-fourseven, Where did you get the add a leaf from? Or did you have a shop make it?

Add-a-leaf.....an extra leaf spring that goes on the bottom of your existing leaf spring stack....copy?
This is pretty much the same way I got around 2 1/2" out of my Z71. Cranked the torsion bars up on the front, and helper spring on the back. I plan to do the same with me Dodge.

Ron is right. Helper spring is actually curved a little more than stock springs, to create a little more spring rate to the stock springs. This in return allows the truck NOT to squat as much under a load, and in return adds a little lift. I went down to my local spring shop, and had em put one in. $130 later, I had a helper spring.
uspatriot, those ARE the shocks I got. Like I said, I was looking for whatever was on sale, and went for em. And so far they have exceeded my expectations, so Im happy.
A helper spring, or a add a leaf, is a common way to raise the vehicle sightly. When my dad lifted his excursion, he did an add-a-leaf, and he got 3" off the suspension alone.
